Kelley M. Cornell, M.D., F.A.C.S. is the Surgical Director of the Winchester Hospital Breast Care Center and a Clinical Instructor in Surgery at the Tufts University School of Medicine.
Meet Dr. Kelley Cornell
Dr. Cornell received her medical degree in 1991 from the University of Kansas Medical School and was awarded membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She received her surgical training with the United States Air Force and completed her training as Chief Resident in General Surgery and a Vascular Surgery Fellow at the University of Kansas. She has been with Middlesex Surgical Associates since 1998.
Dr. Cornell is a leader in the development of minimally invasive surgical techniques and diagnostic tools for breast cancer. As Surgical Director of the Winchester Hospital Breast Care Center, Dr. Cornell has vast expertise in breast cancer care including high risk screening and prevention, breast conservation, sentinel node biopsy, nipple sparing mastectomy, partial breast irradiation and other breast oncologic techniques. She has participated in major cancer resections with Dr. Fuller (GYN Oncology).
Dr. Cornell also sees vascular patients on a select basis in conjunction with Dr. Breckwoldt. As one of the general surgeons in the practice, Dr. Cornell performs procedures such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder), laparoscopic colectomy (abdominal), and laparoscopic appendectomy as well as hernia repairs, and surgery for skin and soft tissue lesions. Dr. Cornell also has experience in robotic surgery. She has broad experience with surgery for thyroid and parathyroid disease and endocrine diseases of the adrenal glands, pancreas and gastro-intestinal tract.
Dr. Cornell is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Society of Breast Surgery and a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery with additional certification in Vascular Surgery. Dr. Cornell is Chairperson of the Cancer Committee at Winchester Hospital and frequently lectures on breast cancer genetics as a member of the speaker’s bureau for Myriad Genetics.
